Looking ahead to the 14th Five Year Plan, under the background of carbon peak and carbon neutrality, China's electricity consumption is showing rigid and sustained growth. The power industry not only faces the arduous task of peaking itself, but also needs to support the whole society to peak as soon as possible. The potential for electricity substitution is huge in the future, and the degree of electrification in the whole society will steadily increase. The new pattern of dual circulation development drives continuous growth in electricity consumption, with the conversion of old and new driving forces. The growth rate of traditional high energy consuming industries has declined, and high-tech and equipment manufacturing industries, as well as modern service industries, will become the main driving force for electricity consumption growth. The construction of new urbanization will drive the rigid growth of electricity demand. Taking into account factors such as energy conservation awareness and improvement in energy efficiency, it is expected that the total electricity consumption in China will exceed 9.5 trillion kilowatt hours by 2025, with an average annual growth rate of over 4.8% during the 14th Five Year Plan period. To meet the electricity demand for embarking on a new journey of building a socialist modernized country, it is expected that China's installed power generation capacity will reach 2.9 billion kilowatts by 2025, with non fossil energy power generation accounting for 52% of the total installed capacity.
