On July 20, the extremely heavy rainstorm, a rare event in a thousand years, hit the urban area of Zhengzhou, Henan Province. The rainfall even reached an astonishing 200 mm or more in just one hour, which is almost equivalent to the rainfall of Zhengzhou in previous years. Causing serious floods and waterlogging disasters in the urban area, causing damage to multiple power supply lines throughout the city, leading to various serious faults such as short circuits, cable breakage, and leakage.
Before the power maintenance personnel complete the repair comprehensively, in order to prevent electric shock accidents from endangering personal safety, the following points need to be noted:
① Do not shelter from rain under transformers or overhead lines. Strong wind may blow off wires, while lightning strike and rainstorm are likely to cause short circuit and discharge of bare wires or transformers, posing a threat to personal safety.
② Do not shelter from rain under trees or billboards that are close to power lines. Once a strong wind breaks a tree branch or topples a billboard, it is likely to smash or place adjacent wires on top of them. Once the human body comes into contact with broken wires or wet trees or metal billboards, it can be very dangerous.
③ Do not touch trees near electrical wires. As trees grow taller year by year, some wires have been surrounded by tree crowns, and there may be insulation damage to the wires after prolonged friction. When encountering thunderstorms and strong winds, trees and power lines collide and rub against each other, which can cause short circuits and discharges.
④ Do not approach power poles and diagonal wires. The upper end of the cable-stayed iron wire is very close to the power line, and unexpected situations may occur in adverse weather conditions that can cause the cable-stayed iron wire to become electrified.
⑤ Do not wade into stagnant water. Try to choose a road section without water accumulation when walking. If it is necessary to wade in water, make sure that no wires fall into the accumulated water before passing to avoid electric shock accidents caused by water conduction. If the power supply line is found to be disconnected in accumulated water, do not handle it by yourself. Immediately mark the surroundings, remind other pedestrians not to approach, and promptly call 95598 to notify the power supply department for emergency handling.
⑥ When someone is electrocuted and falls to the ground, do not rush to help. Once someone is found to have been electrocuted and fallen to the ground, emergency measures must be taken before rescuing the person or calling 120 for medical personnel to provide on-site assistance. Otherwise, not only will it fail to save others, but it may also cause electric shock to oneself. Remember not to rescue people with bare hands, and do not use damp tools or metal objects to pry open wires. Insulated tools must be used to pry open wires.
⑦ Don't panic when a wire falls near you. Even if the power line breaks and falls on the ground very close to oneself, one should not run recklessly. One should keep both feet together or jump off the scene with one foot to prevent step voltage electric shock.
⑧ Timely disconnect the main power switch. When outdoor water accumulates indoors, in order to prevent electrical equipment from leaking water, the main power switch should be disconnected in a timely manner.
⑨ Some things are not suitable for use during thunderstorms. Solar water heaters should not be used during thunderstorms, and should not come into contact with metal objects such as gas pipelines and water pipes. Before the thunderstorm arrives, the power should be cut off by pulling the switch. During thunderstorms and lightning, do not turn on household appliances such as televisions, computers, and VCD players. Instead, unplug the power plug to prevent lightning from injuring people and damaging electrical appliances.
⑩ Be careful not to take the elevator when seeking refuge in high-rise buildings. The bottom pit of the box elevator is equipped with a 110V safety circuit and a 220V maintenance circuit. In the case of water accumulation and humidity in the pit, it is extremely prone to electric leakage. As the elevator is a solid metal structure, the current will be directly transmitted to the car, causing electric shock.
Finally, we pray together for Henan from afar. God bless Zhengzhou, God bless Henan, the rainstorm will stop as soon as possible, and the flood will fade as soon as possible.
