Mount Putuo, located in the southeastern part of the Zhoushan Archipelago in Zhejiang Province, is a Buddhist holy land that attracts countless tourists and believers with its unique "Sea and Sky Buddhist Kingdom" style. As one of the four famous Buddhist mountains in China, Mount Putuo is not only the temple of Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva, but also a tourist destination that combines natural wonders with cultural heritage.
The Buddhist history of Mount Putuo can be traced back to the Tang Dynasty. It is said that when Huie, a Japanese eminent monk, invited the Avalokitesvara from Mount Wutai to return home, he left the Buddha statue because of the wind and waves, and built "not going to the Avalokitesvara", opening the history of Mount Putuo as the Avalokitesvara Taoist Temple. Nowadays, there are three ancient temples preserved on the island: Puji Temple, Fayu Temple, and Huiji Temple, each with its own unique charm:
Puji Temple: The largest temple on Mount Putuo, with the highest number of worshippers and many major Buddhist events held here.
Fayu Temple: Renowned for its tranquil environment and the Nine Dragon Wall, the plaque "Tianhua Fayu" inside the temple was inscribed by Master Hongyi.
Huiji Temple: Located on the top of the Buddha Peak, it requires climbing 1088 steps or taking a cable car to reach. The temple houses the famous Guanyin, who sends off children.

Mount Putuo is not only a famous Buddhist mountain, but also a natural ecological treasure trove. The island is rich in vegetation, with a circular distribution centered around Foding Mountain. Of particular note is the Putuo Goose Ear Carp at the back door of Huiji Temple. This rare plant, which is over 200 years old, is known as the "only child of the earth" and is particularly beautiful when it blooms in April every year.
The journey to Mount Putuo is not only a physical journey, but also a spiritual baptism. Here, Buddhist culture and natural landscapes are perfectly integrated, and both devout believers and ordinary tourists can find their own tranquility and insights. As the ancients praised, 'With mountains and seas, we should push Putuo'. This sea fairy mountain is waiting for every visitor to explore and discover with its unique charm.
